In May 2010 Betfair, the world’s largest online betting community, created the Betfair World Cup as part of their sponsorship of Manchester United FC. The 5-a-side tournament, that brought Betfair’s Fan v Fan proposition to life ahead of the FIFA World Cup, saw nation compete against nation on the pitch at Old Trafford Stadium.
The teams battled through regional qualifiers to win the chance to take part in the ultimate football experience, which included a day at United’s state-of-the-art Carrington training facility, access to the players’ changing rooms, and the chance to play on the pitch at the Theatre of Dreams.
Having managed all communications to the 16 markets, Synergy co-ordinated the entire event with the assistance of Manchester United Soccer Schools, and created and delivered the entire experience for the 128 participants, which ended with all 128 guests enjoying a celebration dinner hosted by England and United legend Sir Bobby Charlton.
