In August 2011, SSE became a National Community Partner of the RFU to offer support to local clubs and their communities.
SSE wanted to help support local rugby clubs in the best way possible so we created a ‘What Clubs Need’ survey to get a better understanding of how SSE can help. 275 clubs responded and we based our rewards programme on the survey results and created SSErugby.com. SSErugby.com is a portal for players, coaches, fans and administrators involved in grassroots rugby to access the latest rugby news and win great rewards for their club.
In the first year we have delivered rewards as diverse as a team talk from John Bentley to club essentials such as training kit, to clubs nationwide. One club will also be the lucky beneficiary of £10,000 worth of SSE energy credits as part of our annual energy reward.
We’ve now generated 800 registered users of SSErugby.com in just over 3 months and the campaign has more than doubled SSE’s brand awareness within a rugby audience.
